Description	As a result of concerns that some patients were admitted for their surgery feeling unprepared for what was going to happen, the nurse consultant in cardiac care introduced a Fit For Cardiac Surgery clinic. Patients are invited to an hour long appointment and can bring a friend or relative with them. She goes through the surgeon’s letter to the referring doctor and explains what is planned and why. This patients’ consent to surgery is much better informed. They have her card and phone number so that they can call back with further questions. *evidence also for “Listening to and acting on feedback”
