| Sharing information: carrying their latest ECG gives patients confidence On a thoracic ward patients with cardiac problems are given a copy of their latest ECG to take home with them. A nurse explains it to them, and patients go home knowing what abnormalities it shows and what to tell future doctors about it. Not only do patients gain in confidence from understanding their ECG, GPs and A&E doctors who subsequently see the patient and take and ECG have a record to compare it with.
